Interview with Stefan Tóth : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. Stefan Tóth : Series STORIES of BIKE were/are a great source of inspiration. It helped to understand the relationship between the biker and the bike. .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. Stefan Tóth : Everything was based around one question: what man awaits from a motorcycle for everyday use? It determined features that are inherited from classic, petrol-engined bikes as well as the novelties. .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. Stefan Tóth : Not yet defined .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. Stefan Tóth : First idea was born in 2011. Then with small steps and pauses it tooks its current shape in 2015. .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. Stefan Tóth : I consider this design as a collection of ideas .Frank Scott: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?. Stefan Tóth : Not decided yet. .Frank Scott: What made you design this particular type of work?. Stefan Tóth : I think we are heading to elementary changes in personal mobility, petrol age is over. As for the motorcycling, this is my version, how it might look like. .Frank Scott: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?. Stefan Tóth : I am a big fan of custom motorcycle builders. Because they are not under commercial pressure, their work helps to define the core of the motorcycling as phenomenon. .Frank Scott: Who is the target customer for his design?. Stefan Tóth : Design is meant to be an allrounder. Suitable for daily transport needs, ideal for citizens, commuters, short distance riders who does not like to clean the chain of their bike. .Frank Scott: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?. Stefan Tóth : Combining traditional and innovative features. Exposing technical details as part of the overall look .Frank Scott: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?. Stefan Tóth : This is my third motorcycle concept. .Frank Scott: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?. Stefan Tóth : Computer graphic tools, based on initial hand sketches. .Frank Scott: What is the most unique aspect of your design?. Stefan Tóth : It was intended to leave the overall look a bit like an unfinished story, so that everybody could make the final touches personalized. .Frank Scott: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?. Stefan Tóth : The technical background required consultations. .Frank Scott: What is the role of technology in this particular design?. Stefan Tóth : Application of the e-mobility technology was the most challenging part of the design process. .Frank Scott: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?. Stefan Tóth : I studied market analyses to be able to define the needs and expectations of the target user group .Frank Scott: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?. Stefan Tóth : Finding an easy and smart way to change the battery pack was the detail with opened to the last moment. I think, the presented solution can be a convenient one for everyday use. Does not require special technical or physical skills. .Frank Scott: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?. Stefan Tóth : I saw an award-winning design solution very similar to one of my previous concepts. .Frank Scott: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?. Stefan Tóth : This work deepened my knowledge of the technical background, as well as the knowledge of the user-specifics of this product group. .
